Amsterdam: Ten Top Tips

I'm so excited! We are finally planning a trip to Amsterdam - it's been on my travel wishlist for so long now but for whatever reason, it just hasn't happened yet. So, as ever, I took to Instagram to ask my lovely followers if they had any tips or recommendations for things to do when we're there and I thought I'd share their top ten.

Please feel free to add your must-see places in the comments below.

1. Supper Club

"Supperclub is more than just a restaurant. It is also a club, bar and gallery. it’s a place where like-minds find each other and go home with a story at the end of the night. "Supperclub brings you a night full of spectacle, from an exciting 5 course surprise menu to exhilarating music, occasional performances to 260 degrees visuals. Everyone plays a role, even you, and fills in the white canvas that is the Supperclub."

2. Foam Gallery

"Foam informs and inspires as wide an audience as possible by showing all facets of current photography... by organising a range of activities. These range from exhibitions to publications, debates and educational projects."

3. Nine Little Streets

"Nine picturesque shopping alleyways in the Amsterdam canal belt... the ideal neighbourhood to get to know Amsterdam in all its variety and richness... after 400 years it is still very lively with artisanal businesses, hidden cafes, hotspot restaurants and galleries, and a unique offer of specialised and authentic shops."

4. Yellow Bike Tours and Rental

"For over 28 years we have been doing what we love: organising the best trips around Amsterdam with our quality bicycles and our wonderful staff."

5. Van Stapele Cookies

"We had a dream of creating the perfect cookie recipe. Trays and trays of cookies went in and out of the oven, as we varied the amount of chocolate, sugar, and additional special ingredients. Until finally, on a cold February evening, we took the umpteenth load out of the oven. We wearily sank down at the kitchen table and tasted. As soon as we had taken a bite, we sat up, looked at each other and knew: This is exactly the taste and texture we were looking for all along!"

6. Taster Menu at Senses

"The dishes are made using the freshest seasonal and where possible, sustainable ingredients. Let your senses be stimulated and opt for the unexpected. Choose from the weekly alternating 3 to 7 course surprise menu and embark on your own voyage of discovery."

7. Scandinavian Embassy

"We combine experience and interest in Scandinavian food and sustainability. We trace small, niche, suppliers and go with the seasonal change of products. Our kitchen offers low price-range menus with a fine dining presentation – maintaining the healthy and eco-friendly roots of the Scandinavian cuisine. We are also pairing coffee and food, enhancing the overall culinary experience."

8. Cafe Droog

"Cafe Droog is an elegant and airy café that overlooks the canal and the Fairy Tale Garden. Enjoy homemade recipes based on one philosophy—fresh and delicious."

9. Venkel

"Locally produced fruit and vegetables turned into healthy salads, soups and sandwiches."

10. Hortus Botanicus

"The Hortus Botanicus is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, nearly 400 years old. Stroll through the greenhouses and wander the leafy gardens."
