Brunch at The Bottle of Sauce
Share
Good news! The Bottle of Sauce in Cheltenham has brought back its delicious, daily breakfast and brunch menu and I was very lucky to have been invited to sample it on Sunday.
I’ve always loved The Bottle of Sauce - it’s got that easy, relaxed vibe of an old town pub with loads of cool touches which make it a bit different, and it’s great that they host a number of community events like the monthly Yard Sale. Having only ever tried their amazing burgers before, I was intrigued to sample their brunch.
We’d booked a table for 10.00 and it was quiet when we arrived and were told to choose a spot to sit. My dad would have approved of the blues playlist (perfect Sunday music) with John Lee Hooker blaring out of the speakers.
The menu for breakfast/brunch offers a small range of dishes like Chicken ’n’ Waffles, Eggs Benny and the Boss Man fry up, and a selection of Brekkie Buns with vegetarian options for both. My daughter is vegan so she opted for the Mighty Veggie but without the egg and cheddar & leek fritter.
I’m a bit of a cliche when to comes to brunch and can’t resist any combination of avocado, sourdough and egg so I went for the Chilli Avo Smash with poached egg. The addition of pumpkin seeds and lime chilli flakes was a really nice touch but the avocado mix was a bit heavy on the onion for me!
My son had the buttermilk waffles with bacon (you can substitute the bacon with blueberry smash if you prefer). He’s a bit of an expert on waffles as we’ve recently spent some time in California and he said these were really good.
It’s with also mentioning that the coffee was really good - my cappuccino came in a big colourful mug and it was the perfect start to my Sunday morning.
All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend you try it out. Maybe some kind of fruit/yogurt/granola option would be a good addition to the menu but other than that we couldn’t fault it.
The Breakfast and Brekkie menu is available from 9am to 12pm on weekdays and from 9am to 3pm on weekends and you don’t even need to visit the pub to enjoy the new menu as it is also launching through Deliveroo.
There is a 25% discount on all brunch mains during August so book a table soon!
