Spring at Miss Selfridge
Back in the mid eighties when my love of fashion really hit its stride (think ra-ra skirts, leggings and over-sized shirts), I would take the forty minute double-decker bus ride into Plymouth to shop at my go-to high street stores - Chelsea Girl, Top Shop and Miss Selfridge.
The world seemed so cool and exciting in those days and growing up in a farm cottage on a country lane in the middle of South Devon made my ventures into the city all the more tantalising.
Sadly Chelsea Girl is no more and of course, Top Shop has gone from strength to strength but Miss Selfridge seemed to have gone off the radar a little and lost its way to a certain extent. Their presence on the high street is mainly confined to department store concessions and for a long time it hasn't been a shop that's seemed relevant to me. So, it was a pleasant surprise to happen upon their new arrivals for this spring and find that a lot of what they are doing now is really good and appealing to me. I've picked a few of my favourite pieces and accessories for this season and I hope I can convert you too!
