The best unsung beauty products

Most of us have at least one beauty or make up product that we feel like we can’t live without, a hollowed out eyeshadow in a favourite colour or an old-school beauty remedy that you’ve been using for years.

Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream is a long time favourite of mine and I love it because it has so many uses and works so quickly. I slather it onto cracked heels and cover in old socks over night and wake up with smooth feet. Within hours it seems to heal those deep, sore cracks you get on your thumbs in the winter and it’s the best lip moisturiser I know. I always have a tube of it in my bag and it’s especially brilliant on holiday.

I’ve been using a No. 7 eyeshadow for years now and I dread the day that they discontinue it. I’ve tried similar products but nothing compares and the colours are never as good – it’s the perfect brown, goes on beautifully and has just the right amount of glitter.

I asked my Instagram followers to share of their favourites are and here are some of their picks.

@dhowelldesigns – Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzing make-up base

“It’s not a powder so it’s really dewy and more hydrating. In the week I use it on its own without foundation.”

@alporch – Lancome Liner Plume

“I wear black eyeliner every day no matter what and this is my fave, it stays put after the gym and everything.”

@jackie_2829 –  Superdrug Vitamin E Intensive All Over Body Cream

“I’ve used it for years, it gets great reviews. They also do a spray version which, although it’s thinner, is great for when you’re in a rush.”

@hellyv – Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Ecstasy

“My new find!”

@mymamamusings – Jane Iredale foundation

“It’s a fantastic match to my complexion, which I often struggle with. It’s lovely and light too.”

@beehive28Loreal Super Liner

“This is perfect for cat flicks.”
